Hrm... Happy Thanksgiving!

  • Just noticed that the last time I posted was September 11th... Little did I know what was to come less than 6 hours after that post. Hopefully the recent combined assaults against Afghanistan won't bring any successful terrorist retaliations. I'm a bit surprised to note that even though President Bush urges American's to return to a normal life, and not give up their freedoms, that the Emmy Awards were cancelled *again* last night. Don't get me started about US views on why encryption should be done away with. :(
  • It's been a good weekend so far! Enjoying our holiday up here, and taking some time to clean up our place, and get things organized. It's getting cold again, which sucks. ;) Saw Serendipity on Friday night, and really enjoyed it! Cute movie. Last week, Kelly and I saw Don't Say A Word, which was also good.
  • The Enfusion Group web site underwent a backend upgrade this morning, from GeekLog 1.1 to 1.25. I've also put up a UT server querying script that is a slightly modified version of one that's out there. As well, I decided to hack the colour scheme for phpSysInfo and put that online as well, under 'EG Stats'.
  • In the past few weeks, I've also changed our network around a bit too. I've moved our cable link to wolverine to add redundant outbound routing for our network. Our cable link is now only accessible at enfusion-group.dyndns.org, with mystique.enfusion-group.com now pointing at our SME Server on our DSL link. wolverine now also monitors both connections.

    Short work week!

  • This week's going to be a short week, taking a few days off this week, and one next, going home on Thursday, until next Monday.
  • Got a new cell phone, a Rogers AT&T Panasonic EB-TX210. It's a nice phone! Haven't used it much yet, but it took forever to get it activated at Radio Shack on Sunday.
  • More web site updates, yet to attempt to get Gallery running, but started some code overhauls on the MP3 engine... More to come!

    Mmm... Unreal Tournament

  • My cousin Robert from Florida is visiting this weekend, and so far it's been pretty fun! Went out for dinner at Japanese Village, a tepanyaki Japanese restaurant where they cook the food right on the table in front of you. Would have been a *very* nice evening, had it not been for the classless group of people we had to share the table with. Tomorrow, we're off to the wine and cheese show at the Ottawa Congress Center.
  • The Linux Professional Institute (LPI) was offering discounted rates on their Level 2 Beta Certification this week. The tests, which would normally be administered as two seperate tests were offered as one combined one earlier this week, which I wrote. The objectives it strives to cover are here. We'll see if I passed it, since I didn't prepare for it, or study in advance for it.
  • On the administration front, there have been lots of updates this week, and tail-end of last: OpenSSH 2.9.9, Samba 2.2.2, xinetd 2.3.3, apache 1.3.22, mod_ssl 2.8.5, Perl 5.6.0. Also finally got round to setting up mailman, and the Enfusion Group UT mailing list (EG-UT list).
