Netfilter good!

  • As part of a short talk I gave yesterday at the OVSAGE meeting, I wrote up my thoughts about stateful packet filtering, and why Netfilter offers so many benefits over what's available in Linux 2.2/ipchains.
  • On a good note, it's the weekend!

    A Beautiful Mind.

  • Went to see A Beautiful Mind on Sunday night, it was incredible. Now, in retrospect, it definitely deserved the awards it won at the Golden Globes.

    Certified!

  • So I wrote the LPI General Linux I and II exams, and passed, so I'm now LPIC-1 and LPIC-2 certified, since I passed the 201 and 202 a few months back as part of the beta testing offering.
  • Our wedding bands were finished yesterday, and we went down to see them, they look absolutely great. Can't wait 'till September 28. :)
  • Looks like I'm going to be maintaining the Geeklog+Gallery integration patches. That's pretty cool.

    Yay For Monday Evenings!

  • A while back, Kelly and I signed up for ballroom dancing lessons through a local community centre. We thought we'd get some practice before capitalizing on the gift certificates Tony gave us as an engagement gift. I have to say, I wasn't all that thrilled when I thought about going to ballroom dancing lessons, but we pulled up to Broadview Public School tonight at 7:25PM and had a great time learning how to "Foxtrot". There are only four other couples in the class, and there are four instructors -- actually, one instructor, and three assistants, but it means that each couple gets lots of attention. Almost like private lessons! I can't wait 'till next week! For eight weeks, at $78, it's a deal.
  • The Ottawa Carleton Unix Users' Group (OCUUG) is stirring again and the first meeting in what looks like years is going to take place later this month at Exit Certified's facilities. On the agenda are: The OCUUG charter, Executive Board, and other goodies.

  • Testing VPN Software Using VMware

  • I did a quick write-up on how to setup four VMware virtual machines as a VPN testing infrastructure.
