May 2002 Archives

May 14, 2002

April showers bring May flowers.

  • It's been a busy month. It's going to be sad to leave Ottawa, its atmosphere, and the people we've met, but Kelly and I are moving back to Thornhill at the end of this month. Kelly starts her internship in September, a week or two before our wedding, and I'm starting a new job at Natural Data in June.
  • So we've been packing, organizing and scheming about what to do with all of our stuff. We've sold lots of it, and the rest will come with us to The Chung's place.
  • The Toronto area will soon have gtaSAGE. :)
  • In the meantime, I've been working on alternate hosting arrangements for our main server which will remain in Ottawa...

    Goodbye e-smith.

  • Friday was my last day at e-smith, now the Network Server Solutions Group of Mitel Networks Corporation. Its been two years since I've worked for e-smith, and in that two years, the people I've met and things I've learned have been unforgettable. As a new chapter of my life begins and we relocate back to Thornhill I'll definitely miss e-smith, Ottawa, and our condo.
  • This weekend was very good though, my brother and his girlfriend Vivien were up visiting. We took some pictures, went down to the market, and saw Star Wars Episode II: Attack Of The Clones. Yoda fighting with a light saber made the movie for me. :) More importantly, I got to drive my brother's new BMW 330xi around town.
  • Today, got my new ADSL connection completed to Tony's place. It's syncing at about 7852/768Kbps, compared to about 6580/896Kbps that I'm getting now. Although it's a moot point anyways, since tomorrow, it's going to an SHDSL connection which should do ~2.3Mbps inbound and outbound. Our main server's going to remain in Ottawa, at Tony's place.
  • The packing continues...

    The "big move".

  • Well, I've been dreading having to do this for a long time, but I've finally finished (well, mostly) moving enfusion-group.com offsite from our condo to Tony's place, where it will remain when we move to Thornhill. It's sitting at the end of a 2.3 Mbit G.SHDSL connection from iStop.com. With Tony's place being ~6 short blocks from the central office, the connection's sync'ing at 2248Kbps, with the maximum rate being ~2320Kbps. So far, so good. All major services have been moved, except for UT, and Jabber.
  • Now I can get on with packing the rest of our computer stuff up for the move.
