Big monitors.

  • At work, I've got a 17" HP p700 monitor. It looks nice and is a flat CRT monitor. I figured a shiny new 17" HP monitor should be able to do 1280x1024, right? Well, it can, but it's really blurry. So I looked around the office and found a Digital 21" VRC21-WA monitor. The specs say it does 1600x1200 at 75Hz. I figured it would definitely do at least 1280x1024 pretty clearly. So after hefting it over to my desk and trying it out, it figures that at 1600x1200, it was blurry as well. At 1280x1024, it was acceptable, but I figure I'll probably lose my sight within a few months. :) I finally opted for a 17" Digital that does 1280x1024 at 75Hz, and is pretty clear. If there's one thing I'm absolutely picky about when it comes to computer gear, it's definitely monitors. I'm really really appreciating my Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2040U. So much in fact, that I came home and decided that I'd crank it up to 2048x1536/75Hz. Compared to what I'm dealing with at work, it's razor sharp, and probably won't make me blind.
  • It's amazing how much a quality monitor, and a Matrox video card can improve your computer viewing pleasure. :)
