5 weeks and counting...

  • Lots happening these days, the big day is quickly approaching. We're busily trying to take care of the last bits of wedding tasks, which take a pretty big chunk of time. We happily found out last week that we're going to both have a week off after the wedding, so we can go on a honeymoon. We hadn't planned on that at all. We're very much looking forward to it.
  • I'm no longer at Natural Data, I'm now working for Q9 Networks in Toronto. The job, company, people and location are fantastic. For the first time in a long time, I actually wake up and look forward to going to work. ;)
  • I was thinking the other day... It seems that every so often, I mention that I've primarily done software development, and the first thing people in related technical positions ask is, "What languages do you know?". I find that question analogous to someone asking a construction worker what tools they know how to use. There's so much more to software development than knowing a language, as there's so much more to building a house than knowing how to use a hammer. Next time you meet a software developer, refrain from asking them what languages they know. There's lots more to what they know than the syntax, and in's and out's of particular languages.
